Prayer Leader

1. Commit to faithful attendance in Sunday School and Worship Services.

2. Pray each week for the other class leaders and their specific roles.

3. You will need to check the class record notebook and confer with the class outreach and inreach leaders to obtain needed contact information for members and prospects.

4. Each week make at least five telephone calls to: one active member, two inactive members, and two prospects, if possible.  Enlist other class members to make similar phone calls within these same categories.

5. Before you call, pray for the person you are calling and for the call to be a spiritual opportunity. Please do not call during meal time. Share the following prepared introduction. Adapt it for active, inactive or prospective members.

“Hello, my name is ________ and I am the Prayer Leader for the _____________ class of _________________________Church. This Sunday morning our class will be praying for some of our members and friends.  I was just calling to see if you might have any prayer requests concerning you or your family (Or your child if calling for a youth, child, or preschooler) we as a class and as a church might remember during our prayer times.  (Write down the requests. If led, pray with them over the phone.) Thank you and we would love for you to join us for our prayer time and Bible study this Sunday morning at _____ am and then for our worship service at _______am.”

6. After the phone call, immediately stop and pray for the requests.

7. Each Sunday morning at the beginning of class, share these requests with your class and ask for any additional requests from the class members present.  Lead or ask someone to lead in prayer.

8. Record additional requests from class with those gathered throughout the week.  Turn in all the prayer requests with your class records.  They will be used to create a master list for the corporate church prayer ministries.
