Divorce Recovery Workshop

Richland Creek Community Church begins its first Divorce Recovery Workshop on Thursday, September 8th, 2011. The workshop runs for six weekly sessions and finishes on Thursday, October 13th . Empowering you with the support and encouragement of a small band of fellow ’strugglers’ (2 Corinthians 1:3-7), each session will help you release past injustices and forgive through the power of Jesus Christ.
The sessions run from 7:30-9:30 pm. Child care is available. We regret, however, that no specially designed teaching sessions for children will be available during this first workshop.
If you should desire to meet individually with a pastor or trained counselor, Richland Creek Community Church offers biblical counseling. Simply email or call the church office at (919) 556-9292 to request a meeting.
Session 1: The difficulty of divorce
In this session you will learn of God’s desire for your marriage, His tremendous love for you, and discover where to find hope in the midst of hard and trying circumstances.
Session 2: Peace through a storm of feelings
See how seemingly overwhelming feelings of fear, anxiety, bitterness, anger and depression are overcome with a vibrant trust in the all-powerful God and an acceptance of your circumstances.
Session 3: Bible boundaries
Reject the notion that the Bible condemns divorced people to misery and loneliness. The Bible’s boundaries are God-ordained ‘guard rails’ for keeping us out of trouble and releasing us to experience peace, satisfaction, and joy.
Session 4: Single-parenting, but not alone
Learn how to help your children overcome the affects of divorce. This session provides practical ways to model your obedience, love, and trust in God—even through awful difficulties. The friendships developed within your workshop small group are a big help for putting this session’s resources into action.
Session 5: Forgiving the “unforgiveable”
Discover God’s amazing forgiveness for your life and unleash His power, in Christ, to forgive your “ex.”
Session 6: Relationships that last
Learning to love and trust again is best developed with a loving and trusting relationship with God and with His people. Discover the strength of a church family.
