Prayer for Our Children
During our recent study of the book of Ephesians, I was drawn to two passages of Scripture. Ephesians 5:16 says “Redeem the time for the days are evil.” (NIV) and the Scripture regarding the Armor of God, Ephesians 6:10-18 . Sounds as if we may be in a war, doesn’t it?

I am becoming more and more convinced that the battle in our present time is being targeted at our children and grandchildren, which has a profound effect upon us. I have listened with prayerful interest to countless prayer requests concerning the welfare, health, salvation, finances, joblessness, marriage distress, etc. of our children and grandchildren. Some of our children/grandchildren are saved, having access to the armor we are instructed to put on. However, we know that this does not insulate them from the onslaught of the enemy. But it definitely gives them the weapons necessary to “stand firm.” The remaining unbelieving/unsaved of our children/grandchildren, having no access to this armor, are walking about in a very vulnerable state.
I believe one of the most effective ways of redeeming our times is in intercessory prayer. I have felt the urging of the Holy Spirit during this time to call for a season of corporate intercessory prayer among the Singles of All Ages specifically for each others’ children/grandchildren/and even great grandchildren. We need to lift them up to the Lord for protection, provision, salvation, healing, and so forth.
Won’t you please join us this Friday night, December 17th, at Richland Creek in room 127 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm for a corporate time of intercessory prayer for our loved ones? Please make this a priority! Change or rearrange your schedule, if necessary. I know this is the Christmas Season and we all have very full calendars. Even if you cannot stay the entire time, please drop in and join us for whatever amount of time you are able. Invite others to come and “stand in the gap” and pray with us.
Please prepare for this meeting by praying now that God would be honored and glorified, that no opposition will present itself, that we would be faithful to our call to assemble and pray, and that protection will be given to those who attend and pray.
If you have any questions, please email Judy Lytle, or Susan Cole. See you at the Creek!!

Free Passes to the State Fair!
Come help out at the State Fair!
My previous neighbors in Raleigh attend Westover United Methodist Church. Each year their church runs a food booth for the State Fair. A large portion of the church consists of a more elderly population and they are struggling with finding enough help to cover each shift during the Fair to run their booth. The money raised during this time helps fund a large portion of their ministries at the church.
The shift schedules are as follows (3pm on Oct 14th through 10 pm, Oct 24th):
Morning Shift: 8am-3pm
Evening Shift: 3pm-10pm
NOTE: If you can only help out a portion of a shift please let me know and they can probably still use your help!
Duties can include running cash register, cooking burgers, fries, pouring drinks, cleaning tables, taking out trash, and having an all-around fabulous time. Flexibility and a willingness to help are a must. It really is a lot of fun and the church members are great!
BONUS PERK!: The day you help with the Fair- you also receive a free pass per worker to the Fair for that day!!!
So, what do we need from you?
Get some fellow small group members, your family, neighbors, long time friends, short time friends, the fella that you sit next to on the bus, etc., and sign up below! Note that shifts may no longer be available, as volunteers sign up to help. Be sure to reguest your time as quickly as possible.
If you need help with your children, maybe a couple of couples can watch them one night while you go Fairin’ and then you can pay back the kind gesture and do the same for them. The options are endless!
Questions? Feel free to call or email. As we near the event, I will send you information on how to pick up your tickets, get to the fair, and the location of the booth (it’s one of the nice big spaces inside the buildings!).
Can’t wait to serve with you. Sign up today!
