All Singles Potluck

There has been a slight change of Plans for the November 15 All Singles Potluck. Instead of having it here @the Church we are having it relocated to Ms. Tracy home. She has graciously asked that instead of just meeting for the usual reason of fellowship that we meet for a dual purpose of Fellowship & celebration for the Baptisms of 4 Singles on that same Sunday.

During the 2nd Service Hour, 9:45, Perry will lead Danielle, Rachael, Patti & Peggy in Believer’s Baptism make plans to attend to encourage these sisters in the Lord.

Intercession for Ben McNeal

For those who are able to participate, we are meeting @The Church to pray on Monday October 12 from 7-8pm for Ben McNeal & his Family. For those who might not know Ben, he is a 21 year old young man involved with our College ministry. He has faithfully served here at the church in various capacities for several years now and he was diagnosed recently with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This family has already lost two to this disease and we are asking you to come out to intercede on their behalf. We will be praying for healing, because our God is more than able, but also for his will to be done and peace and comfort for the Family.

Intercession for Michael Pacilio

On October 2nd at 5:30 until 6:15 in the AM we will be meeting @ Duke Raleigh Hospital for a time of Intercession for Michael Pacilio. We will be praying for Michael’s Healing, God’s will and we will pray both for Salvation & Wisdom for the medical staff as they interact with Michael and his family. He is in room #4231

Free Concert

Keith and Erin are hosting an extra special event at their house on Monday, September 28, and you’re invited! Folky acoustic duo, Jenny & Tyler, are touring the country with their delicious blend of rootsy soul-grass music (Keith just made up “soul-grass”) and will be performing some original songs right in their living room. It’s called a house show, and it promises to be a uniquely satisfying music listening experience. Here are the details with linkage to song samples and a map to the Anderson’s house.

What: free concert

When: Monday, Sept. 28, 7-9 pm

Price: Donations for Jenny & Tyler will be accepted.

Bonfire Preparation Day

On Saturday September 26th We will carpool to Mr Ray Taylor’s farm, call Perry @556-9292 if you aren’t already in the loop. We will then engage in nasty, grueling, and potentially back breaking work to clear brush and poison ivy on Mr Ray’s farm in preparation for the Bonfire in October. To avoid exposure to briars, bugs and poisin it is advised that you wear long sleeves and durable jeans, Sign up Here if you can help. Also if anyone has an available chainsaw please bring it & if anyone has a pickup truck available to haul brush and debris away it would be greatly appreciated. It should only take up the morning and we will grab lunch somewhere in Louisburg. Any questions Email Perry

Fall Strategy Planning

Combos but not the snack treat

Sodium and chlorine. Alone, both can be deadly, but together and in the right combination they make salt. Jesus calls us to be salt to the world in Matthew 5:13. God, being the ultimate scientist, takes combustible elements like us and combines them together in such a way that we are way more useful than apart.

A few months ago I thought ‘if Christianity were like basketball, who would be the other 4 in my starting line up?’ Each would have to bring something different to the table. The first member of my team would be a reminder of where I’ve been, where I want to go, and to keep it simple by not overloading. The second member would a breath of fresh air that keeps pushing me to do and try more, forcing me out of my comfort zone. Third would be the older brother type who keeps me accountable to what I believe, a living conscience of sorts. Lastly would be the younger brother who kids me at every turn, but when we go out in the world the kidding keeps me sharp. Names were withheld to protect the innocent and because the four guys referenced know who they are. These guys have helped me keep my head on straight and I know I’d lose it if it wasn’t attached. With that said I also know that I grate on their nerves from time to time, in a literal interpretation of Proverbs 27:17, Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. By God’s grace we work together for the furtherance of His Kingdom, and these four have seasoned my life and I try to pour that into others.

God built us to be communal, reference Genesis 2:18, knowing we could not survive alone, and these are my go-to guys but not the only ones. You should build up your own team based on your needs, not my recommendations. Take the picture above as an example: if only one hand were holding the ring, considerable effort would have to be exerted to keep it straight and level. However with many hands holding it in place the strain is not as noticeable. Here, in the Richland Creek Singles ministry, we strive to help make the strain of life less noticeable and when that is impossible we help bear the burden, ala Galatians 6:2. So when tough times come, remember ‘Don’t go it alone’, it’s a team effort and God knows the right elements to bring together for a winning combination.
